I hold a B.A. in English Philology from the University of Warsaw, and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Leicester. I have over 20 years experience teaching at all language levels, and in a wide variety of institutions throughout Poland, including primary schools, middle schools, Adam Miczkiewicz University (Poznan), University of Białystok, and in a number of multinational companies.
The goal is to provide pupils with a powerful incentive to improve their spoken English. There are several well-organised English language competitions, exams and websites available to boost reading, writing and listening skills. Unfortunately, the same is not true of speaking skills. I completed a certificate in Virtue Ethics in Education from the University of Birmingham, and for more than 12 years, I have been an Oral Examiner for Cambridge Examinations: First Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Proficiency Level Certificate. To motivate pupils towards the improvement and display of their command of spoken English, we envision this initiative as a meeting place where pupils come together in the healthy spirit of a collaborative competition, to speak intelligibly and intelligently on a wide range of topics embedded in the core subjects of Geography, Social Studies, History, Culture, and General Science. In our classrooms we are, after all, supposed to be preparing our pupils to be proficient English language users; as
1/ Professional know-how and consultation on how best to approach setting up the project;
2/ Partner schools throughout Europe with whom to collaborate once the project has been developed;
3/ Information on securing resources, particularly for the compensation of participants and rewarding of distinguished contestants.
