Collegio San Carlo was founded in 1869 and has historically been linked with the Roman Catholic Church and the city of Milan. Originally an all boys boarding school up until 1971 and then a day school, the Collegio became a co-educational school in 1985.
Christian truth, freedom and solidarity are the ethics of all of the Collegio’s academic subjects for example sport, music, drama plus languages such as English, Spanish and French which include also extra-curricular activities. All such activ
The Intercultural Programme is offered throughout the school from the Nursery to the High School. It is a unique bilingual educational programme that allows students to experience diverse cultural areas and religions, in order to promote a unique learning environment. Approximately 30% of the curriculum is taught in English representing a major breakthrough within the Italian state school system. The areas of academic subjects are taught in English by qualified mother-tongue teachers.
Collegio San Carlo offers a vast variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities for students of all ages. For this reasons teachers need to be actively involved in lifelong learning programmes to improve their abilities. Our interests are principally plurilinguistic competences (since four different languages are taught) with new technologies in teaching.
These are combined not only through the teaching of highly academic subjects, but also through the use of technological amenities. Every single classroom is equipped with a line board, overhead projector, wifi (even for students), webcam and in some cases tablets which is quite unique for an Italian high school.
